कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन। मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥
Transliteration
Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana Ma karmaphalaheturbhurma te sangostvakarmani
Meaning (English)
You have the right to perform your duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself the cause of the results, and never be attached to inaction.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
कर्म करने में ही तुम्हारा अधिकार है, फल में कभी नहीं। तुम कर्म के फल के कारण मत बनो और अकर्म में भी तुम्हारी आसक्ति न हो।
मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदुःखदाः। आगमापायिनोऽनित्यास्तांस्तितिक्षस्व भारत॥
Transliteration
Matra-sparshas tu kaunteya shitoshna-sukha-duhkha-dah Agamapayino 'nityas tams titikshasva bharata
Meaning (English)
O son of Kunti, the contact between the senses and their objects gives rise to feelings of heat and cold, pleasure and pain. They are transient — they come and go. Endure them bravely, O Bharata.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
हे कुन्तीपुत्र! सर्दी-गर्मी, सुख-दुःख देने वाले इन्द्रिय और विषयों के संयोग अनित्य हैं — ये आते-जाते रहते हैं। हे भारत! इनको सहन करो।
यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत। अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्॥
Transliteration
Yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharata Abhyutthanam adharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham
Meaning (English)
Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, O Arjuna, at that time I manifest myself on earth.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
हे भारत! जब-जब धर्म की हानि और अधर्म की वृद्धि होती है, तब-तब मैं स्वयं की रचना करता हूँ अर्थात् अवतार लेता हूँ।
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्। धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे॥
Transliteration
Paritranaya sadhunam vinashaya cha dushkritam Dharma-samsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge
Meaning (English)
To protect the righteous, to destroy the wicked, and to re-establish dharma, I appear millennium after millennium.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
सज्जनों की रक्षा करने के लिए, दुष्टों का विनाश करने के लिए और धर्म की स्थापना के लिए, मैं युग-युग में प्रकट होता हूँ।
अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते। तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम्॥
Transliteration
Ananyas chintayanto mam ye janah paryupasate Tesham nityabhiyuktanam yoga-kshemam vahamyaham
Meaning (English)
Those who worship Me with undivided devotion, meditating on My form — to them I carry what they lack and preserve what they have.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
जो लोग अनन्य भाव से मुझमें ही मन लगाकर मेरी उपासना करते हैं, उन नित्य-निरन्तर मेरा चिन्तन करने वालों का योगक्षेम मैं स्वयं वहन करता हूँ।
कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्तः।
Transliteration
Kalo 'smi loka-kshaya-krit pravriddho Lokan samahartum iha pravrittah
Meaning (English)
I am Time, the great destroyer of worlds, and I have come here to consume all beings.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
मैं लोकों का नाश करने वाला बढ़ा हुआ महाकाल हूँ। इस समय इन लोकों को नष्ट करने के लिए प्रवृत्त हुआ हूँ।
सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज। अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः॥
Transliteration
Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam sharanam vraja Aham tvam sarva-papebhyo mokshayishyami ma shuchah
Meaning (English)
Abandon all varieties of dharma and surrender unto Me alone. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.
अर्थ (हिंदी)
सम्पूर्ण धर्मों को त्यागकर तू केवल मेरी शरण में आ जा। मैं तुझे सम्पूर्ण पापों से मुक्त कर दूँगा, तू शोक मत कर।
